Is there anything for which you would give up your life?

Posted on Oct 2nd, 2008 by DudeRun : Future Superhero DudeRun
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 29, 2008:

For me it's easy to name the few things I would give my life up for. These are the things that make it easier each day to survive. They can include my friends and family and music. The first two are easy to explain. My family are the people that I love the most in the entire world. They drive me insane, that's easy to say, but what would I do without the comfort of my poppo or the antics of my sister? In truth, they are my best friends. I would take a bullet for any of the people that I count as friends, because without them I am not who I am. They shape me and even though I get frustrated with them, they're still extremely important to my well being.

Music is something else. Think of your favorite band. Close your eyes and picture the people in that band on stage. The music is playing and you can feel the drum beat and the bassline running along the floor and up your legs into your heart. The lyrics are extremely intense and you find yourself singing along. Before you went to this concert your life was a mess, an absolute jumble of daily drama and emotional hurt. From the first word to the last guitar note you feel like you're a whole person. I can honestly sit here and tell you that the five guys that make up my favorite band, I would die for. They have changed my life entirely and I owe them so much, even if they don't know that. You'd have to be an extreme music lover to get that, but it does make sense.

I think for those that can't find something they would give up life for, it's sad. I know I used to be like that--so far gone you can't see that your friends and family really care for you. It's like the world is against you and all you want to do is go to sleep forever. It's one of the scariest things in the world to feel that alone and I feel sorry for anyone that experiences that now. You all just need a nudge in the right direction is all. You just need a friend.
