This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 13, 2008:
People. It seems simple enough, right, but it's actually kind of deep. I know that people start a lot of problems and they're often extremely difficult to solve, but they're also the source of so much good. When Hurriane Katrina hurt the South the response was overwhelming. I know my own community sent soup and vegetables to people as well as jackets and socks. We had a tree around Christmas where people would put presents for hurricane victims. For 9/11 people really bonded together to get people out of the wreckage and into hospitals. All of those people that help in Darfur and Tibet and Korea and Iraq are absolutely inspiring. They see something and they go for it, because they want to make the earth better.
But it's also smaller things than that. A person singing along to the radio in their car when they're all alone, smiling when they're walking through a hallway, when a person says hello to someone they normally wouldn't have. I think the little things like that, the quirky things that make a person who they are, are amazing.

Help

There's something so sweetly true about this… because really, outside of our communities, and the people that make up our lives, what else is there?
You inspire me. :)
